kewet tube chassic

KEWET electric car galvanized pipes chassic is developed, and the first cars (do not know for how many), is made at FKN teknik in Hadsund

FKN teknik was in the final phase and completion of another technological adventure Hadsund namely Novo Diagnostic Systems A / S. (NDS)

Flemming K Nielsen worked on NDS on mechanical workshop. NDS forstrede Numerous ihværksættere in Hadsund, and Flemming K Nielsen started already FKN teknik in the past year while he was employed by NDS.

The closure of the NDS came after Novo gave the company due to some technical errors in judgment ( memolog, BMC Lab 23 ) and sold to the original godfather, Børge Simonsen. He had in the 70s started Meditronic and had mid / end 80s several biomedical companies in town. The new cabinet itself was called Scan Detectronic Diagnostic (SDD). SDD went bankrupt about a year after overtaglesen. Flemming K Nielsen started here around this time up full time with his own business.

NDS made brain scanners, spect, cerebrografh, bone mineral scanners, and other medical technology that required precision taverns mechanics.  FKN teknik worked for several of the new entrepreneurship that originated from the closure of NDS and later SDD (SDD invented the Simonsen Cerebrograph Cortexplorer) . (Some  newe companies came from the closure of NDS: Twister Engineering at Bob Offenstein, Cortex Technology By Flemming Kristensen, Hadsund Maskinteknik by Eric Sand, etc.)

Pipes for KEWET EV chassic was bent at the then called REVA Kærvang (rehabilitation center) Hadsund. Today the place is called Project Center Hadsund or special unit Hobro municipality.

Buddy norway had also made a chassis in denmark, they should be made at the company Metafix in Hadsund

How do you charge properly on Li Ion baytterier

When i play a little with some LiPo batteries for a remote controlled car, or similar, it's cheap, and don't mater if i destroy a LiPo battery, they don't cost a lot. But it is quite another thing when the battery pack will cost more tah $5000 as to the KEWET  2 runs at 48 volt.

So now it is about time to learn more about the Li Ion technology, to know more so i can make a test setup with an Arduino to monitor LiFePo battery pack.

I will use some Li Ion cells from a faulty laptop, and cram it into a small LEGO electric car or my DIY electric bicycle LiIon powered.

LiFePo Batteries for KEWET - LiFePo4

Update October 24, 2011: I Have just received a fresh complete offers on LiFeYpo4 from Poland http://kewet.blogspot.com/2011/10/lifeypo4-tilbud-fra-polen.html

Li Y Fe Po4 batteries are commonly used at present. projects for electric cars, and the good old Ellert use this type of Li Ion battery.

They are far more durable a Li Ion, and have much more power than lead / acid batteries, and weighs a lot less. There are many advantages.

Quote from Danish electric car committee:

'At the same time Li-Ion battery is much more durable. Where lead-battery often gives up after just 300 charges (15000 miles) has a Li-Ion battery lifetimes of up to 3000 recharges (almost one million kilometers) '

Have found some on ebay too:

KEWET EV specifications

There are six generations of Kewet:

Model 1 and 2 use 48 volt systems, 5 kW motors are equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox.
Model 3 was fitted with a 48 volt system, a 7.5 kW motor and a single-speed gearbox.
Model 4 used 60 volt systems and a 10 kW motor.
Model 5 is used 72 volt systems with a 12 kW motor. It was also available as a van.
Model 6 (Current model, which today is called Buddy) use 72 volt systems with a 13 kW motor.
Additionally, there was a whole new version on the drawing board and shown running, kewet 2000

They all have seats for three people, has a range of typically 50 to 80 km between charges on lead acid batteries (150 km with a Li-Ion batteries), a top speed of 80 km / h and has a 1.6 KW electric heater or a paraffinic optional heater.

The chassis is made of hot galvanized steel and the shell is made of GRP.

Currently offered buddy (kewet) only for sale in Norway.

The history of the KEWET Electric Vehicle from Denmark

Kewet EV is developed and from 1991 to 1995 produced by Hadsund Mariagerfjord by Knud Erik Westergaard (KEW).

Kewet is a Danish-made electric car development and production took place in Hadsund (same place as Barsøe Card Feldman developed his hope wisper one 15 years earlier)

The man behind Kewet Knud Erik Westergaard, who in 1971 started KEW Industries. KEW Industries is best known for their high pressure washers and industrial washers. The market was worldwide. In 1988 appointed Knud Erik Westergaard to sell his life's work, KEW industry, and wanted to concentrate fully on his new idea, a Danish car.

Kewet marque was a contraction of: Knud Erik Westergaard

Kewet is a small compact car with room for 2 and some shopping bags can be inserted into the through tailgate. It can handle 90 kilometers in 6 hours of charging into a standard wall outlet. KEwet is 2442 mm long, 1425 mm wide and 1246 mm high.

The batteries are stored in the car body and is placed under the seats. Kewet 1 and 2 have manual transmission and kewet 3-5 has automatic transmission and rear wheel drive.

Kewet can run between 50 and 80 km / h, accelerates from 0-50 km / h in about 7 seconds.

It weighs 473 kg without batteries, 620 kg with NiCd batteries and 840 kg of lead acid batteries.

The body has built up a structure of galvanized steel tube construction, while the plate parts are made of fiberglass reinforced polyester.

Compared to other electric cars from back then (Ellerten) then the battery pack is much more durable and works for 3 years. Batteries cost, however, up to 15,000 £ plus VAT and fitting, however, falls batteries much now, and from 20000 you can get the durable LiPoFe.

Kewet were sold under the name of a city-jet and in 1991 drove the first kewet out of production hall on plastic Rd in Hadsund by Mariagerfjord ..

Right up to 1995, production continued. It was understood that a new production would take place in the former East Germany in the town of Nordhausen. The German authorities made it initially impossible, and he had to base its business on a somewhat less profitable production in town.

Kewet sales and Kewet Industry lost momentum and went bankrupt in 1998. Failed to revive the electric car in Denmark.

A resuscitation attempt in August the same year under the name Kewet. Kewet Service are shown enu they provide spare parts and can repair the now old kewet EVs ..
