KEWET EV specifications


There are six generations of Kewet:


Model 1 and 2 use 48 volt systems, 5 kW motors are equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox.
Model 3 was fitted with a 48 volt system, a 7.5 kW motor and a single-speed gearbox.
Model 4 used 60 volt systems and a 10 kW motor.
Model 5 is used 72 volt systems with a 12 kW motor. It was also available as a van.
Model 6 (Current model, which today is called Buddy) use 72 volt systems with a 13 kW motor.
Additionally, there was a whole new version on the drawing board and shown running, kewet 2000

They all have seats for three people, has a range of typically 50 to 80 km between charges on lead acid batteries (150 km with a Li-Ion batteries), a top speed of 80 km / h and has a 1.6 KW electric heater or a paraffinic optional heater.

The chassis is made of hot galvanized steel and the shell is made of GRP.

Currently offered buddy (kewet) only for sale in Norway.

The history of the KEWET Electric Vehicle from Denmark


Kewet EV is developed and from 1991 to 1995 produced by Hadsund Mariagerfjord by Knud Erik Westergaard (KEW).

Kewet is a Danish-made electric car development and production took place in Hadsund (same place as Barsøe Card Feldman developed his hope wisper one 15 years earlier)

The man behind Kewet Knud Erik Westergaard, who in 1971 started KEW Industries. KEW Industries is best known for their high pressure washers and industrial washers. The market was worldwide. It weighs 473 kg without batteries, 620 kg with NiCd batteries and 840 kg of lead acid batteries.

The body has built up a structure of galvanized steel tube construction, while the plate parts are made of fiberglass reinforced polyester.

Compared to other electric cars from back then (Ellerten) then the battery pack is much more durable and works for 3 years. Batteries cost, however, up to 15,000 £ plus VAT and fitting, however, falls batteries much now, and from 20000 you can get the durable LiPoFe.

Kewet were sold under the name of a city-jet and in 1991 drove the first kewet out of production hall on plastic Rd in Hadsund by Mariagerfjord ..

Right up to 1995, production continued. It was understood that a new production would take place in the former East Germany in the town of Nordhausen. The German authorities made it initially impossible, and he had to base its business on a somewhat less profitable production in town.

Kewet sales and Kewet Industry lost momentum and went bankrupt in 1998. Failed to revive the electric car in Denmark.
